Earlier this year, workers at a palm oil plantation in Malaysia came face-to-face with what looked like something from another planet. It started out just like any other day in the fields, but a few hours after starting work, something terrifying emerged from the jungle…
It was a hairless creature that looked like a stereotypical gray alien, except for the fact that it was crawling.
The workers were so terrified that they hit the creature, who they say charged at them. Then, when the “alien” regained consciousness, they coaxed it back into the jungle.
Here”s a video one of the workers shot from that initial encounter back in January.
The workers thought that they had seen the last of the alien-looking creature…that is, until it returned to the plantation in February. This time, instead of beating the animal, they captured it and sent it to a local wildlife center.
This is what the creature looks like up close.
As it turns out, this is no alien at all. The creature is actually a hairless — and unfortunately very sick — sun bear. They”re native to the region.
For reference, here”s what a healthy sun bear looks like.

Sun bears are an endangered species in Malaysia. Despite that, they”re often killed by locals so that their body parts can be used for various traditional medicine practices. This hairless sun bear is being treated at the wildlife center and is doing well. In time, staffers hope that they”ll be able to release her back into the wild.
