Doctor Mark Hobart refused to perform a sex-selective abortion for a couple at his practice because of his moral objections. They only wanted a boy and, upon discovering the fetus was female, wanted to abort.
His decision to save their child”s life was full of good intentions… but now he is facing legal trouble.
The Indian couple preferred to have a boy and didn”t want the baby if it was female. They asked the doctor to perform the abortion and he refused.
Dr. Hobart thought that it would be morally wrong. Now he is under investigation for failing to perform his duties for the parents.
“I refused to refer the patient because there was no medical reason to do it and it offended my moral conscience.”
Pending the investigation, his medical license could be revoked all because he wanted to save a child”s life. Was this doctor a hero or a villain?
