Pennsylvania-based artist and leatherworker Mellie Z creates boxes covered in leather and lined with sharp fangs. Don”t worry they”re as awesome and strange as they sound.
Each box is unique and full of personality.
Her charming creations are created using leather that”s been dyed and textured to resemble the scaly hide of a dragon. It”s then fitted over boxes and decorated with eyes, teeth, and other details. The result is off-beat and totally charming, giving you the perfect place to store your treasures.
The “mimic” boxes are modeled after monsters that can take the shape of treasure chests, luring unwitting people right into their mouths!
(And if you play Dungeons and Dragons, you know how much that sucks.)
Mellie”s company called Fine Line Leather Designs which also produces masks, costumes, and bags specializes in creating handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces. Metal accents and embroidered details bring each piece to life and make it truly special.
The boxes typically measure about three to six inches wide, and they can be used to store anything from jewelry to change to any other trinkets you might have. Rest assured that these little guys will keep everything safe.
A dragon-faced toothy chest can still look futuristic.
Each box is crafted by hand, so no two are ever alike.
Can”t you just picture them all chattering away?
You can see much more of Fine Line Leather Design”s products on their website, as well as on Facebook. Items are also for sale on Etsy, but it seems like they sell out quickly! If you can”t snag one on Etsy and you”re one to frequent Renaissance Faires, keep an eye out for her stall!
