When paramedic Cameron Hill met Melissa Dohme, he was answering one of the goriest 911 calls in his entire career. She was stabbed by her former boyfriend over 30 times and was lying in a pool of blood.
She nearly died…but her incredible story had an ending no one expected.
When Cameron first met Melissa, she was bruised and bloody after being repeatedly stabbed by her former boyfriend. She lost so much blood, you couldn”t tell she was a blonde.
The firefighter-paramedic found her unconscious – but breathing – outside of her home. The boyfriend only stopped stabbing her because a passing couple witnessed the violence and called out.
She spent three weeks at St. Petersburg”s Bayfront Medical Center fighting for her life. She suffered a stroke, flat-lined four times, and even had to receive 12 units of blood. Doctors didn”t know what would happen to her. They were unsure if she”d ever speak, smile or walk the way she used to.
…but then, after rehab, Melissa miraculously walked out without the use of even a cane. She returned to St. Petersburg College-Clearwater to become a nurse, inspired by the people who helped her.
One day, she visited a church in Clearwater, Florida, to talk about her experience. To her surprise, two of her first responders were present…and one happened to be Cameron.
Since that moment, Cameron and Melissa have been inseparable.
But just recently, their world was turned upside down.
As an advocate for survivors of domestic abuse, Melissa was invited to throw the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Ray”s game.
When it came time to throw the real pitch, she noticed something on the game ball. There was a message: “Will you marry me?”
Three years after saving her life, Cameron wanted to change her life again.
Melissa, of course, said YES.
After all, how could she refuse her knight in shining armor?
This incredibly happy couple met under the worst circumstances, but now their future together is so bright and full of love.

What happened to Melissa is a tragedy that no one should ever have to experience. Instead of passing away in a pool of her own blood, though, she found an incredible future with a heroic and kind man.
These two are truly lucky.
Everything happens for a reason…and these other miracles will put a smile on your face.
