I don”t like to get involved with political or religious debates. Usually, when a discussion breaks out at a party, I conveniently have to go to the bathroom. And never return.
But what happened at this Carrabba”s Italian Grill in Kansas is disgusting – even if you agree with the basic premise.
It took place at this restaurant. It was a normal day for one waiter, who has chosen to remain anonymous, when he returned to a table to pick up a table”s check.
He didn”t find a good tip. Nor any tip at all. They left a note that said the following:
Okay, so that”s bad enough but not the end of the world. A table of Christians who take their beliefs very seriously – perhaps too seriously, but that”s irrelevant. Because the note continued:
“We hope you will see the tip your f*g choices made you lose out on, and plan accordingly. It is never too late for GODS love, but none shall be spared for f*gs. May GOD have mercy on you.”
After the note gained widespread attention from people in the area, there was an abundance of support for the waiter. Many people – including Christians – condemned the rude, hateful note and even offered to give him the tip he deserved.
The anonymous 20 year old waiter, whose mother also works at the same restaurant, released a very brief statement:
“The offers to help pay me back are much appreciated, but not at all needed. I”d prefer to let my work ethic and my service do the talking, nothing else.”
Dr. Baker, a pastor in the area, went to the restaurant and asked to be seated in the server”s area. He said, “I was angry. I said this is not Christian as I know it. God really loves us. And God does not advertise or promote hate. That is not love.”
Dr. Baker gets it. The customers at Carrabba”s that day do not.
